Check that a share or port answers.

Health › checks. Pick Share / port reachable. The agent opens a TCP connection. It does not log on to the share.

Port 445 is SMB. 3389 is Remote Desktop. 22 is SSH. The check is only that something accepts the connection.

Pick Share / port reachable

Open the machine, then health › checks. The primitive is Share / port reachable. Host is the other machine. Port is the TCP port. From Reception PC, 10.1.1.10 port 445 is the accounts server's file share. The agent only checks that the port accepts a connection. Check that a port is listening is the same idea on this machine, with no host.

Add to list, then push

Press add to list. The check sits in the document. Push to agent is the next click, and it asks you to confirm. Push replaces the whole document. This shot stops before that, so nothing has been sent. When the port does not answer, the alert is a check failure. It resolves when the connection succeeds again.

Checks list with a share check named Accounts file share answers, not yet pushed
Accounts file share answers is on the list. Push has not been pressed.

Push is a two-step button. The agent must be online to evaluate. You can still add the check while it is offline, and it applies at the next hello. A port on this machine itself is Check that a port is listening. A name that must resolve first is Check that a name resolves.
