Probe the LAN instead of only listening.

Network › network, on the scan bar. Active probe is a tick beside weekly scan. It does not start a scan by itself.

Passive is what the machine already knows: ARP, DHCP leases, and TCP peers. Active adds a ping and a few ports, and stops at a /24.

Open the scan bar

Open Spare laptop, then network › network. Active probe is clear. Weekly scan is clear, and the note says off. There is no snapshot yet. The right side says offline, because this demo machine has no live tunnel. On a machine that is connected, that spot is Scan now. This guide does not press it. Turn on the weekly LAN scan is the other tick.

Tick active probe

Tick active probe. The next scan you start pings each address and tries ports 22, 80, 443, 445, 631, 3389 and 9100, and it stops at a /24. Passive, with the box clear, is only ARP, DHCP leases and known TCP peers. The tick is not a scan: the note still says off until you press Scan now or save the weekly tick. This shot does neither, and the last step clears the box.

The weekly clock is Turn on the weekly LAN scan. Reading the rows afterwards is Read devices found on the LAN. Accounts server's last snapshot was already an active one.
